Privacy-respecting Platform

We run our events on open source, interoperable, decentralised and privacy-respecting event infrastructure based on the Matrix protocol. It allows full usability with just a username and a password; no email or phone number is required. It also allows viewing in guest mode, where no registration is required.

Inclusivity efforts

WEDF's outreach activities aim to involve communities and diverse perspectives from all over the world. We dedicate entire tracks at the flagship Forum to specific regions and provide content in multiple languages, as well as work with translators to ensure WEDF materials are available to as many people as possible.

Human rights related work - ERA

For the last four years, The World Ethical Data Foundation has been working to create the Ethics and Rights Architecture (ERA), a proposed solution for a language-neutral, censorship-resistant, international standard of classification for – and the storage, exploration, and protection of – all data relating to human rights and fundamental freedoms. It is to be a digital public good and will be free to use by everyone.

I've never seen a team work so hard to bring down every sort of barrier (financial or otherwise) to make such a gathering as inclusive as possible. Given how many marginalised voices never even get a seat at the table, I find this both important and incredibly inspiring.
